Fran graduated from the University of Virginia with her BA in Psychology in 1981. She completed her MA in Counseling Education in 1985 at the University of South Florida. Fran has over 15 years of training in working with clients who have a history of trauma and received specialized training in family therapy in Washington, DC under Marianne Walters. Fran has extensive training in treating trauma through her work with the Child Protection Team at the University of Florida since 2005.
Fran’s diverse professional experience and training has allowed her to provide counseling in many areas. These include mood disorders, ADHD and children’s learning problems, marriage and family issues, LGBT and grief support. Fran has many years of experience working with children with sexual abuse issues, family reunification, working with the legal system and coordinating services with community agencies.
Fran’s approach is inspired by her training and experience. She bases her work on using client’s strengths and competencies as tools for change in a safe, supportive environment. Fran believes clients are able to generate their own solutions and effect positive changes in their lives.
